Figured I'd start a blog mainly for our nervous family to follow the motorcycle adventure Charlene and |I have embarked on this summer.

Our plan is to head West from our Home in Winnipeg across the Canadian Prairies with stops to visit family in Calgary AB., Revelstoke, Surrey and Victoria in BC.  After that we turn our attention South following the coast of the Pacific Ocean down to San Fran before heading inland with stops planned in Vegas, the Grand Canyon and various others spots along the way.  I have 35 days before I need to return to work!

Day 1 - June 10th/2011

We got started on our journey a day late while we waited for my Mom to be discharged from hospital after surgery.  But it all worked out for the best as it allowed for some last minute prep that we had not quite completed after being overwhelmed by planning for this large trip as our first bike trip longer than an overnighter.

Here's the excited/apprehensive couple set to depart Winnipeg at 8 AM.
Here I am just prior to departure trying to figure out the stereo in my new fairing!  How embarrassing to be caught actually using a manual.

Char snapped this @ about 120 kph on the way out of Brandon MB, This is actually farmland flooded out by the Assiniboine river.

Hitting the first of many different borders we will cross on this journey.

As most anyone who has traveled the Transcanada highway knows this was pretty much the extent of the scenery all day long in Saskatchewan.

Here's the Nomad at our destination for the day, Moose Jaw SK, got us a nice hotel room at the Comfort Inn & Suites at nice discount thanks to my CMC membership.  Mileage covered today 803.6 KM.  Tomorrow Calgary AB is our destination.
