Day 6

Day 6 dawned with more rain surrounding us and our travel route.  We were up early looking for our best window of opportunity on the radar maps.  We hit the road at 8:30 and rolled out of Revelstoke in a fine mist and the temperature at 8 degrees Celsius.  Our first stop was in Salmon Arm at the Tim Hortons for some breakfast and the weather held steady to this point.

Once on the road from Salmon Arm things start to deteriorate to periods of heavy rain and the temp dropping to 6 degrees.  At time through the twisties in the mountains in the heavy rain I was gripping the bars tighter than a Sedin twin gripping the stick in the Stanley cup finals.

As we neared Vancouver Stanley Cup playoff fever we evident everywhere, on billboards, on buildings and on vehicles.  Traffic was nearly at a standstill with an estimated 100,000+ people heading for the downtown for Game 7 of the final.  After taking 90 minutes to cover a stretch that should have taken 20 minutes we decided to alter our plans and destination.  We put off Victoria until tomorrow and headed for my Brother and Sister In Laws in Surrey to watch the game and spend the night.

A shot from the Shuswap region of B.C.

We stopped at a truck stop on the East side of Kamloops and found the entire facility was themed from a train robbery by Bill Miner.

Apparently Char see's no evil, stayed tuned to find out if she speaks no evil and hears no evil as well.

Sadly this is the closest thing to the real Stanley cup that will be staying in Vancouver this year.

Mileage covered today was 576.6 km for a total mileage of 2431.8 km.
