Day 2

Day 2 of our journey saw the weather turn a bit cooler with quite a bit more wind than the near perfect conditions we saw on day 1.

We were on the road by 8:30 AM after a good breakfast supplied by the hotel.  Just after hitting the Transcanada we were joined by a nice custom Road Glide who rode with us until our first fuel stop in Swift Current.

Speaking of our first stop, while filling up Char pointed out the Casino next door and suggested since we were going to take a short break why not do it at the casino since we could walk around, likely get a soft drink and not simply pace a gas station parking lot.  After entering the Casino we found out if you signed up for their players card you got $10 of free play.  A few minutes later we each had $10 of free play, 10 more minutes later Char had $40 and I had $10 to cash out.  Gas was on the Living Sky Casino folks today!

As we near the Alberta border the prairies start to roll a little bit, at least in this area you can't watch your dog run away for three days.

Another border crossed.

From the giant Moose to an oversize Teepee in Medicine Hat.

As we neared our destination in Calgary the skies turned black and forced us to pull over and pull out the rain gear. If nothing else this provided the comic relief for the day when my ultra conservative wife decides she doesn't want to wear the rain pants over her jeans.  After a short discussion she decides to change by sitting in the long grass beside the road side turnout, of course just as she reached mid change the trucker from the truck in front of us decides to come to the back of his truck to check his tires.

We were forced off the road for a brief period due to hail but managed to make it to Calgary despite riding in the rain the last 1.5 hours.

A correction on yesterdays mileage it was actually 703.6 km not 803.6, todays mileage was 710.2 km for a total of 1413.8km.  Tomorrow is a family day here in Calgary so if there is an update it will be minimal and non riding related.
